Both Jingle & Hokie have been doing great!

Jingle likes "Chicken Flips"(Chicken chew strip treats) and will dance around and bark in hopes of getting as any as possible.

Rabbit

After the bed eating incident Natures Recipe "Healthy Skin Rabbit & Rice Dinner" seems to be the only food that doesnt upset Jingles stomach...not sure if its allergies or what but this is the only food that seems to work.

So, we have stocked up.....

Long time no update.. well Jingle and Hokie have been up to their normal routines..keeping out of the heat and enjoying playtime indoors as usual. Hokie does continue to "stalk" Jingle and will sometimes give her a swat on the nose for no reason..but overall they continue to get along very well.

Jingle has been more energetic than we have ever seen her! We no longer have to make her get off the couch in the morning..she gets up and is ready to play. Running and flinging her toys all over the room..etc.

She did manage to eat part of a bed we had for her and some bed stuffing ..for which we took her to the vet to get checked out for any blockage. All clear...

Jingle has really enjoyed this nice weather we are having by napping out on the deck and sometimes out in the yard ...of course Hokie enjoys watching her closely.

8 long weeks

Well it's been 8 long weeks of going out on a leash at 2am...brrrr
but Jingle was tested for heartworms and the results came back negative!

She is officially "off all restrictions" and seems to know it.

Round Two - DING DING

Jingle completed her second round of heartworm treatment and is doing really well.

We go back to the vet soon to do another blood test to make sure they are gone...

Meanwhile we get to keep her calm and still go out on a leash for now ..which is really fun at 2am. Jingle has also gotten into the habit of going out once for business #1 ...and then 15 mins or so later wanting to go back out for #2....also fun at 2am.

Heartworms

We took Jingle to the vet to get her nails trimmed and a general check up.
A routine blood test showed positive for heartworms. We have given her heartworm preventative (heartgard) every month at the same time thanks to our little heartgard alarm that beeps every month to remind us. However, It takes 6-7 months for heartworms to register on the blood test. She was not showing any symptoms of heartworms..cough..labored breathing...etc.
Which tells us we caught it as early as we possibly could have.

We had a second blood test done to confirm that she has heartworms, which came back positive. So..we scheduled a vet appointment to treat the heartworms. Jingle stayed at the vets office for two nights and is now back home. She is doing very well , we have to keep her "calm" for 6 weeks (no running, jumping, playing..etc.). Thankfully Jingle is pretty layed back which makes it a bit easier to accomplish.

Bark has been very attentive to Jingles condition which we always appreciate.

We set up a "doggie cam" to check on her during the day from work
and this is what we see 95% of the time......a lot of napping.

A November To Remember

Jingle and Hokie have been getting along great and making us laugh many times a day.

They like to be in close proximity of one another and both are in constant competition for attention..if Jingle is getting attention then Hokie maneuvers her way into the scene and Jingle does the same when Hokie is getting attention.

We came home to a surprise the other day...cat litter bag pulled into the floor...with a present from Hokie in it...dog food bag ripped open and i'm sure Jingle ate more than her share of that...and various other whatnots...

Getting up to date...

Jingle has been doing great..We took her to the vet to have her nails trimmed..Which is the ONLY option..(she doesn't care for the nail trimming process). She managed to locate a good olde' fashioned Virginia Opossum in the yard a few weeks ago...and lets just say the "treeing walker hound" part of her appeared instantly. She didn't rabidly go after it , just stood at the base of the tree it was in and wasn't interested in going into the house. The heartworm pill "beeper" device that reminds us to give her her pill has been very useful. Jingle and Hokie get along very well and sometimes have a back and forth playing going on.

Heartworm Pills...Yum!

Jingle recieved her heart worm pill on 7/1/06 and has been for her initial vet visit with a good report!...except for her needing to loose some weight. Other wise...A-OK !

...the vet gave us an alarm that beeps when it's time to take her heartworm pill.

The First Week...

Jingle has done EXCELLENT in adjusting to her new and permanant home! As you can probably tell from the posted pictures. She has not chased or eaten the cat and made herself right at home..taking up 3/4 of the couch,the entire loveseat or the twin bed in our guest room. Stubborn is a word that will likely appear often in this blog. If you look up the word "Stubborn" on google..it will most likely return a link to Jingles' picture. haha.. We we're warned about her stubborn side. She is extremely funny and has a great personality. Her being stubborn is not an issue, it only adds to her comedy routine.

Jingle's story...
Jingle and her 6 puppies were rescued from a local shelter on Dec. 12th. She and her puppies were to be euthanized that day! Jingle is about 1yr old. She has not been a chewer, or a barker/howler. Jingle loves just being with someone. Jingle is very acclimated to being inside and she is great on a leash. She gets along fine with her 2 foster dogs, and cats. She does not have any interest in the squirrels in the yard.
